You can personalise the information you wish to share with parents on the student Current Report page. Settings are global and turning these on/off will affect what all parents see.
Navigate to the Administration menu > What Parents Can See
CUSTOMISING YOUR STUDENTS' REPORT PAGE
Report Page Name
The report page name will default to '<current year> Report' if left blank. If you would like to change the name to reflect the terminology used by your school, enter it here. This will also change the name viewed by the teacher and the menu item viewed by the caregiver.
About This Page
At the top of the current year report page, there is a pop up called 'About This Page'. A site administrator can add information for parents to read about the content of their child's digital report.
Information can take the form of an image or Google file and written text. Your school may wish to include information about the curriculum, links to how to help at home or translated information for speakers of other languages.
To add media to your report page you can upload your file or embed from Google Drive.
The team at Hero has created an example Google Slideshow that schools are welcome to use as a starting point for developing their own. This can be requested by sharing (with editing rights) a Google Slideshow titled [Name] School Parent Information with caleb@linc-ed.com
Personal Learning Goals
The Personal Learning Plan feature enables teachers to write personalised student goals under headings determined by the school.
Personal Learning Plan goals are specific to individual students and sit outside the sets of curriculum goals. The goals can have posts and evidence linked to them but will not generate data.
- Setting up Personal Learning Plan Goal Headings
- Adding a Personalised Learning Plan Goal for a Student
Note: PLP Goals will display at the first on the report page.
Assessments
If your school wishes to make assessment scores visible to parents, (or school values, effort, key competencies assessments) at least one of the following settings must be turned on. Note: Posts that have been linked to an assessment will also be governed by these settings.
The assessment will present as a table:
Goals
These are the options for you to choose what aspects of the Goals you wish to share with parents and whanau.
See the image below which explains what each of the above settings allows you to do. To see the image in a larger view, click HERE
NOTE: Goals sit below the Personal Learning Goals and assessments if you choose to share these.
<add goal settings needed to show these to parents>
Progress
These are the options for you to choose what aspects of Progress you wish to share with parents and whanau.
See the image below which explains what each of the above settings allows you to do. To see the image in a larger view, click HERE
NOTE: Progress sits beneath the Goals
Learning Posts
You are able to share any Learning Posts on the report. The page must be open to parents, the post must be published and the setting for the page set to be visible on the students current year report page.
Please be aware that posts from the Learning Pages do not necessarily need to be on the report as well. It is doubling up. Some schools create a General Comments page and have the post from this page showing on the Report.
NOTE: Only Learning Posts from the current year will show beneath the Progress. The posts will display in the order they were written.
Attendance
When turned on, the Show attendance to parents setting will display dials that represent the attendance of the student for each term of the current year, and also shows this information in a table.
When you hover your cursor over a piece of the dial a pop up will display, showing parents the type of attendance (Present, Late, Justified and Unjustified absence) and the number of half days this relates to.
