Hero offers schools the opportunity to share and track student progress through sets of curriculum content.
Schools can also choose to add grading to curriculum content to allow for more specific tracking of student progress. Grading can be enabled for any exisiting set of curriculum content, including outcomes and S&S. See Adding or Editing a Set of Outcomes / S&S to create new curriculum content prior to adding grading.
Note: gradable content will be visible to caregivers wherever applicable based on your current what parents can see settings.
ENABLE GRADED CONTENT FOR A SUBJECT
-
Navigate to Curriculum in the Administration menu
-
Select the relevant curriculum content set/subject
-
Click the Pencil Icon to edit the content set
-
Turn on Allow grading for this subject
-
This will open the success criteria/grade options to apply to this content set/subject
-
The default success criteria/grade colours and wording is taken from your Progress terminology set in your Progress Reporting Options - Customising the Progress Reporting Options
Note: for clarity, we recommend that your progress colours do not include the Green and Buff shown in radial dials for secure/complete and developing/set outcome colours
CUSTOMISING GRADES FOR A CONTENT SET/SUBJECT
You are able to set specific grades or criteria if the default terminology is not applicable.
Things to note:
- Leaving a term blank if you change any from the default wording, will omit this choice when applying the grades.
- If you wish to change some of the wording but use the default for some, you need to re-enter the default wording.
-
The grades will always be set with 1 as the lowest/least successful option through to 5 as the highest/most successful. We recommend you enter the criteria that matches 3 (at) first and then enter your other criteria around this.
-
Begin entering the alternative wording for your grades in the space below the default wording
-
Continue until you have added all the grades you wish to use
-
If you wish to use a mix of the default and customised terminology, enter all terms you wish to use including any default
-
Leaving grades blank will omit these options when assigning grades
-
Click SAVE SUBJECT to confirm
When enabled the grades will show on each of the outcome cards with the subject
CUSTOMISING GRADES FOR INDIVIDUAL OUTCOMES
In addition to customising grades for a subject, individual outcomes can also have customised grades if there is a specific need.

-
Scroll down to the Success Criteria/Grades options and make the required changes as per steps 1-4 in Customising Grades for a Subject above.

-
These grades will now be available for this outcome only
