School staff members and caregivers will receive notifications of relevant posts on pages and Community Notices depending on the settings selected by the school (see Setting School Post Notification Options). Individual users are also able to set their own notification preferences as well as manage the devices that receive them.
For more information on how staff can choose what they receive notifications for see Subscribing to Post Notifications
SELECTING YOUR PERSONAL NOTIFICATION PREFERENCES
You are able to choose how you would like to receive notifications from Hero.
1. Click on your profile image (top right corner)
2. Select SETTINGS
3. Scroll down to My Devices and select your preference from the following options:
- Default - you will receive in-app notifications on any device logged into Hero with the mobile app. A list of these devices are shown below these options. If you have no listed devices you will receive email notifications.
- Email - you will receive email notifications from Hero
- None - you will not be sent any notifications from Hero but you can log in at any time to view updates from “The Bell”. See Accessing Unread Notifications via "The Bell"
MANAGING YOUR DEVICES
Signing into the Hero app on a mobile phone or tablet forms an association with that device. Any device with this association will receive in-app notifications from Hero in lieu of an email. You may need to remove a device in the event of losing or replacing your phone or tablet (it may be a security issue if someone were to access Hero via a notification sent to your old phone).
1. Click on your profile image (top right corner)
2. Select SETTINGS
3. Scroll down to the bottom of this screen. Here you will find a box with details for each device that has been signed into the Hero App and that will be receiving in-app notifications.
Note: There may be individual device settings which block in-app notifications from Hero. If you are not receiving notifications on an associated device, check the device settings.
4. To remove a device (and stop in-app notifications) click the three dots menu
5. Select Remove this device
